Does Stretching Affect Performance?

Conventional wisdom has dictated that we should stretch before exercising however, recent data has suggested that may impede performance. Therefore some people have suggested that static stretching should be done on offdays from lifting as to not impede performance. but does stretching on off days effect athletic performance? Is there a difference between static and dynamic stretching on off days? Which type of stretching is best for you? In this video I’ll review data from a study by Barbosa et. al. where they looked at the effect of static and dynamic stretching on 20m sprint, triple hop distance and hamstring peak eccentric torque. The results may surprise you!
