Can you be fit but fat?
Obesity is strongly associated with all cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, and cancer (reference: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19940414/) While there is some evidence that you can be ‘fit and fat’ insofar as you can be obese but still have healthy biomarkers (reference: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24438729/) it appears that even when ‘healthy obese’ (obese people with healthy blood markers) are compared to healthy non-obese, there is still an increased risk for mortality, cancer, and cardiovascular disease (reference: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23637352/)

I recommend listening to and reading his resources to any of my friends looking for science-backed fitness information to guide them on their path of knowledge expansion within the realm of fitness. He's one of the few people i've found to be a reliable, educational, no b.s. resource."
