BioLayne Foundation Awards First Research Grant of $10,000!!

The BioLayne Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded a $10,000 to the University of North Carolina for graduate student Eric Trexler’s research proposal. Eric is a master’s student in Dr. Abbie Smith-Ryan’s lab at UNC. Eric is interested in assessing competitors before competition and in the period following the competition including blood, body composition, and metabolic rate to observe different traits associated with post competition recovery and bodyfat regain in male and female competitors. This research will hopefully provide more clues into how to prepare for and recover from competition in a more effective, efficient, and healthy manner, directly benefiting the fitness industry.

Special thanks to the BioLayne Foundation advisory board for donating their time and all their hard work. Special thanks to Maggie Kuhn for her unwavering support of the BioLayne Foundation and all her work in setting it up. Finally, thank you to all those who donated along with Bodybuilding.com who was a major sponsor as well!
